Really late on the bandwagon with this one, so it’s likely you have read Everything I Know About Love. If you haven’t, get on it immediately. Why it’s particularly surprising that it’s taken me so long to read it is because I’m a massive fan of Dolly Alderton’s podcast with her friend Pandora Sykes called The High Low – if you haven’t listened to it, get on that, too.
The book is a collection of anecdotes of love, dating, female friendship and youth. It’s an ode to the value of trial and error, of growth and of the joy that can come from within. It’s devastating, witty and astute all in one. It’s brave. It’s hilarious. It’s deeply personal and yet frightfully relatable. You don’t have to have taken a cab down the M1 at 4am or cut all your hair off for a boy to read Dolly’s story and think, “huh, that’s me”.
