By Megan Thomas

After watching the most splendid production of it at The Old Vic Theatre this year, I decided Dickens’ parable was a must-read this Christmastime.
It’s almost a shame how well I know the story, because I can’t tell if I enjoyed the actual writing or not as a result. But I think I’ll have to read another Dickens to decide. That said, I really enjoyed the original text and the ghostly descriptions and am glad to have this one ticked off the “Classics” list, even if it’s one of the easy ones.
You can’t help but get into the Christmas spirit once the adventures of Scrooge come to an end. Perhaps I’ll make reading it a Christmas Day tradition.
